How it works: During pregnancy, cell-free fetal DNA is released by the placenta and can be found in mom’s bloodstream. Using a small sample of mom’s blood, SneakPeek tests for the presence of male DNA (Y-chromosomes). Y-chromosomes would only be present if mom is pregnant with a boy. If no Y-chromosomes are found, mom is carrying a girl. This method is known as noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and is safe for both mom and baby. When Can I take the Test? To take SneakPeek, you must be at least 8 weeks into pregnancy, which can be calculated using either the first day of your last menstrual period, or baby's estimated due date. Use our Test-ready calculator to see if you're eligible!

How Accurate is the test? According to controlled laboratory testing, the SneakPeek Early Gender Test predicts a baby’s gender with over 99% accuracy (99.6% to be exact). If you want a little more background on the science behind that percentage, here it is: In controlled laboratory tests, SneakPeek Test accurately detected shared male fetal DNA (the presence of the Y-chromosome in the mother’s sample) in more than 99% of samples provided by women pregnant with a male fetus. (Note: all women in the study were 8 weeks or further along in their pregnancy.) Male fetal DNA was consistently not detected in samples from pregnant women carrying female fetuses. In a blind multi-center study performed in 2015 with samples collected at four clinics, SneakPeek showed an accuracy rate of 100% for fetal sex identification. In at-home testing, a validation study presented at the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) Conference showed that SneakPeek Early Gender Test is highly accurate at determining baby gender as early as 9 weeks into pregnancy.
